Terms of Service

Last updated: June 19, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Scribe (“Scribe”, “we”, “us”), operated by Ethan Hennenhoefer, governing your use of the Scribe Chrome extension and website (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Scribe reads the captions Google Meet displays during a call and turns them into a live transcript in your private account, and uses an AI model to check off agenda items you define. Scribe does not record audio or video and does not join your meeting as a participant. The Service depends on third-party platforms (including Google Meet, Supabase, Vercel, and Anthropic) and on captions being enabled in your meeting.

2. Eligibility & accounts

3. Your responsibility for recording & consent

This is important. Capturing what other people say in a meeting can be regulated by law. You are solely responsible for using Scribe lawfully.

By using the Service, you represent and agree that:

You are responsible for the meeting content you capture and for how you use, share, and store it. We are not responsible for obtaining consent from the other participants in your meetings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or deceptive purpose; capture meetings without the required rights or consent; attempt to access other users’ data or to circumvent the Service’s security or access controls; interfere with or overload the Service or its providers; reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the Service; or use the Service to violate anyone’s rights.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the transcripts, agendas, and other content in your account (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including sending transcript text to our AI provider to perform the agenda check. You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to provide it.

6. Third-party services

The Service interoperates with and relies on third parties, including Google Meet, Supabase, Vercel, and Anthropic. Your use of those services is governed by their terms, and we are not responsible for them. Scribe is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC or any other third party.

7. AI output

The automatic agenda checking is generated by an AI model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or miss context. Transcripts derived from captions may also contain errors. Do not rely on the Service as a system of record or for any decision where accuracy is critical; verify anything important yourself.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. SCRIBE IS AN EARLY-STAGE PRODUCT AND MAY CHANGE, BREAK, OR BE DISCONTINUED AT ANY TIME.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCRIBE AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY LIABILITY ARISING FROM YOUR FAILURE TO OBTAIN REQUIRED CONSENT OR TO COMPLY WITH APPLICABLE LAW. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scribe and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any person — including any failure to obtain consent required to capture a meeting.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or others. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 3, 5–10, and 12) will survive.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located there will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to other agreement, and you consent to that venue.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be made reasonably prominent. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
